How We Test Adult Sites for Safety

Every site on SafePornExpert goes through the same standardized 7-point safety assessment. Here's exactly what we check and how we score it.

The 7 Safety Components

Each site receives a score out of 100 across seven components. What each one actually reads:

HTTPS 15 pts
set by the kind of site

The site serves over HTTPS. Every site we list does, so these points are a floor rather than a differentiator; a site found serving a join page over plain HTTP loses them

Billing safety 20 pts
measured on the site

Known processor, cancel method, upsells, payment options

Ad exposure 15 pts
set by the kind of site

Read from the business model: a paid members area carries almost no third-party advertising, a free tube lives on it. Sites where we hit heavy or redirecting ads are marked down by hand

Privacy 15 pts
set by the kind of site

The same model read, plus a bonus when PayPal is offered (it keeps the card out of the merchant's hands). We do not audit cookies or trackers yet, and we say so rather than implying we do

Domain trust 10 pts
set by the kind of site

The editorial score the same brand carries on our sister catalogue FapIndex, which is built on catalogue size, update cadence, pricing and brand history. The review prints the number it used

Content legality 10 pts
set by the kind of site

Whether the site belongs to a studio network that answers for its releases, and whether it clears the FapIndex bar. A studio-run catalogue is a different legal risk from an anonymous upload site

Outside reviews 15 pts
measured on the site

The average score from up to six independent review sites. Each review says how many sources stand behind its number

Where the 100 points go

Two components are measured on the site itself. The rest describe the kind of site it is, and we would rather draw that than bury it in a sentence.

The scale, and where our 39 sites land

Each bar counts the sites in a five-point band, coloured by the tier it falls in. This is not a sample: it is every site we have tested.

Safety Tiers

  • SAFE (75-100), Passes all key checks. Trusted billing, clean ads, strong privacy.
  • MOSTLY SAFE (55-74), Safe to use with minor concerns. Usually auto-renewal or moderate ads.
  • CAUTION (40-54), Use with care. Significant concerns in one or more areas.
  • UNSAFE (0-39), We don't recommend this site. Multiple safety failures.

Our Data Sources

Two of the seven components are read per site, the rest come from what kind of site it is:

  • Measured on the site itself, billing safety: which processor takes the payment, how many payment options there are, whether the join page arrives with pre-checked add-ons, and whether cancellation has a self-service route. This is the one component where two sites of the same kind routinely land far apart.
  • Collected from outside reviews, the average of up to six independent review sites.
  • Carried over from our sister catalogue, the FapIndex editorial score, which feeds domain trust and part of content legality.
  • Set by the kind of site, HTTPS, ad exposure and the baseline of privacy. A paid members area and a free tube carry different defaults, and a site we find behaving worse than its class is marked down by hand, with the reason written in the review.

What that means in plain terms: 65 of the 100 points describe the class a site belongs to, and 35 describe this particular site. We would rather write that down than imply a certificate audit we do not run. Checks we intend to measure directly, and which are not in the score yet: TLS and security headers, third-party trackers on the tour, a published 2257 statement, and the age of the domain.

What We Don't Test

We assess site safety, not content quality. We don't rate video resolution, scene count, model attractiveness, or content variety. For content-focused reviews, see our partner sites.

Affiliate Disclosure

Some pages contain affiliate links. When you visit a site through our link, we may earn a commission. This never affects our safety scores, a site with affiliate links gets the same assessment as one without. Sites rated CAUTION or UNSAFE don't get affiliate CTAs regardless of partnership status.
